Meet Our Team
Our technicians can design, source and integrate theatre audio visual equipment like amps, mixers, speakers and projectors into any venue.
I have been involved in both the Cinema and Live Theatre industries for the past 25 years and still to this day enjoy the challenges and rewards of seeing a project come to fruition.
It is always a great feeling to see something that you have designed or constructed go into a project which people will see every time they go to watch a movie or live show, not that the public would take any notice or know the effort that goes into making a cinema/theatre, they just enjoy the show.
On a personal level, I enjoy making and designing things, camping, the great outdoors, boating, fishing, flying, and cars, but most of all I enjoy spending time with my family.
I have two boys which can be a handful at times, but always enjoyable and they add an energy level that is contagious and consuming.
Feel free to send me an email if you want to get in touch.
Hi! my name is Shirlee Bennett and I work in accounts and administration.
I love the challenges my job entails and every day is rewarding, and I have even been known to hop on the sewing machines to assist the girls if required.
We have a great team of people to work with here which makes every day interesting and exciting.
I’m married and have three beautiful children and two stepsons. I enjoy spending every minute of my spare time with family and friends.
My hobbies are gardening, sewing and reading and the odd holiday here and there with my favorite destination not too far away in Daylesford, Victoria.
If there’s anything I can help you with, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
I have worked at Specialty Group for almost 15 years now after previously having a career in the Insurance Industry.
Having spent 6 years in insurance, I looked for a change from being behind a desk and found “the hands-on” scenario to be a much better choice.
Being able to see and touch a completed task was different and I found it very rewarding, and continue to enjoy these experiences.
In my spare time, I love socializing with friends and family as well as participating in and watching numerous sport.
I am an avid Collingwood supporter in the AFL with teeth!
I have worked at Specialty Group for almost 5 years now and enjoy my varied role which can be challenging at times, but I love the fact that every day is different.
I was originally born in Hastings, New Zealand and came to Australia several years ago. I try to visit home as often as possible.
In my spare time, I enjoy keeping fit and work out at the gym on a regular basis. I play Rugby in the Victorian Rugby League Association for the Altona Roosters. I also enjoy cycling and often cycle to work in the summer months.
I have three adorable children who are my pride and joy.
I really enjoy my food – particularly ribs, Indian, Mexican and all types of Asian food. I wouldn’t say I’m a Master Chef, but I do enjoy cooking when I have the time.
“Specialty Theatre were engaged to make and install wool curtains to completely surround and semi-blackout our two new rehearsal rooms in Collingwood,” said Anni Davey of Circus Oz. “The big room now has 4.3-metre black drapes all around making it possible to blackout to matinee levels all year round, and the small room–the term “small” is comparative only–has beautiful, colour-matched red wool curtains around three sides with high bay curtains at the second-story windows.”
“When completely drawn the room looks fabulous! We were very pleased with the professionalism of the work, the attention to detail (Their team was fussier than I was about the colour matching!), the timeliness of the delivery and the extra special attention we received” said Anni Davey of Circus Oz.
Sandra & I would like to express our sincere appreciation for the way you strived to achieve this outcome.
Local Government can be a challenge for anyone but your professional approach ensured that they could proceed with the confidence that Specialty Theatre will deliver the best outcome within the constraints of a very political budget line.
From the time you first introduced yourself I was impressed by your relaxed approach and genuine interest in our theatre. Your advice, knowledge and help has been much appreciated, as was the visit from Neil Wood.
“Mick and Brendan did a terrific job. They were absolute gentlemen and we were pleased to have men of that calibre performing the work.”

The team at Specialty Theatre Supplies helped us deliver the project ahead of time and within budget constraints, all to the Charlton community’s satisfaction.
We would not hesitate in working with Specialty Theatre Supplies in the future or recommending the team to any prospective clients and builders.”

Kennett Pty Ltd have recently completed the renovation of the Goolwa Centenary Hall creating a 200 seat theatre setting within an 80 year old regional community hall.
Having worked with Specialty Theatre Supplies previously we were please to find the local council and consultant team had involved the Specialty Theatre crew from project inception in planning and design development which instantly created a confidence a successful project outcome would be achieved.

WOW that was the quickest response anyone has ever given….Thank you so much…
Drum Theatre engaged the services of Specialty Theatre Supplies to manufacture a Panorama track system.
We wanted something we could rely on that we could install ourselves. We were really impressed with the ease in which we put this track together, the joining pins are some of the strongest and best I have seen on any track.
It fit together a lot better than anything else I have used. The support and instructions provided by the team at Specialty Theatre were great. They took the time to ensure we were happy with the product and had the information we needed to successfully install the track. The end result is a reliable track that operates smoothly and quietly.
I have no hesitation is recommending this product or the service of the Specialty Theatre Team.
Stuart McKellar – Technical Manager, Drum Theatre – Dandenong Town Hall
Thank you, so much for all of the great work that you and your company did with the design, development and installation of our stage curtains. From the time we contacted you it has been a very positive experience. You have visited the site for numerous meetings and ensured that we were happy not only with the product, but with the timeline and installation.
Thank you for your professionalism and willingness to ensure that we were not only satisfied with the finished product but with the design and installation time as well. We were so pleased with your company’s service that we already recommended you to other schools.
“My dividing curtain project at the St Kilda Town Hall was on the face of it a fairly straight forward looking affair. At all times during the project Jim from Specialty kept me in the loop with the status of production and manufacture.
When there were speed bumps he always was quick to advise where things were at and where we were to go from there. The added bonus to us was the ability to have our curtains custom dyed to the exact colours we desired.
Through out installation period, the staff who worked on my project were great. Their workmanship was excellent and I’m very happy with the outcome.”

We look forward to continuing our working relationship on future projects.”

Just a quick thankyou for ensuring that our stage drapes were installed in time for our recent school musical. We greatly appreciate that you were able to fill the order and complete the project on such short notice.
If the government ever throws another few million our way for another hall I’ll be in touch.
